Life Coaching and Mentoring
What is Life Coaching/Mentoring?
Here at Tapestry Life Resources, we want to give you tools that will help you become more and more aligned with your True Self; that is, to help you become a person who is in touch with personal Essence and who is empowered in your relationships, your career, your leisure, and all walks of your life.
A Life Coach/Mentor can help you define your true purpose and maintain balance in your life. Live coaching is holistic and covers all aspects of your life from the professional to the personal to the spiritual. Life Coaching/Mentoring is not therapy and focuses more on the "Now" than on the past. It helps to support your growth and ultimate happiness by building on your personal strengths while helping you to "catch yourself in the act" when you are reacting out of an ego-driven defense mechanism that damages your relationships and sabotages your personal goals.
What Can Coaching/Mentoring Do for You?
- Help you to find balance in your life between work, friends, family, leisure, and spirituality so that you can focus your energy on what really matters.
- Help you determine the ego-driven defenses that are keeping you stuck in ways of behaving that are self-defeating and largely unconscious.
- Help you to develop a growth plan that honors your individuality by emphasizing your strengths while targeting areas you want to change.
- Give you encouragement and help you to become more comfortable with the tension that comes when you initially challenge old patterns and entrenched habits.
- Provide you with non-judgmental feedback.
- Help you to hear the "still small voice within" and to honor its wisdom.
What Kind of Person Hires a Coach/Mentor?
People who hire coaches include pretty much anyone who wants to improve his/her life. Although some people hire a coach to tackle a specific issue that is current in their lives, many others want a coach for support and encouragement because they are taking on a new project or challenge (like hiring a personal cheerleader). Many coaching clients and mentees are very successful in their lives, but they want a coach to help them reach the next level. Clients include professionals, homemakers, students, and people between jobs —anyone who wants to make his/her life more manageable and fulfilling and who wants to make the world a better place through more authentic living.
How Does Coaching/Mentoring Work?
Much of the process is centered on asking and answering the right questions. The solutions to most of life’s challenges are already within you. What most people need is someone to ask the soul-stirring questions that help you access your own inner knowledge, and that is the coach’s job.
All of us have times when we forget who we are and lose sight of the wide range of options we have in choosing how we will be in the world we live in. We need someone who can take the role of observer and offer new interpretations and insights. The coach becomes that observer and can often voice the very questions that we are asking (or avoiding asking) ourselves internally.
A typical coaching session begins with time for silence so that we can center ourselves and become present to each other and to Spirit. If you don’t already have an intention for what you want to explore in the coaching session, the silence will help you get in touch with what matters most to you at this time.
Silence and reflection is followed by discussion and sharing. This is a time when you can voice and explore what is going on in your life. The coach’s role is to listen intuitively and to ask probative questions that direct you to an awareness of your desires so that you can see things differently and create the intentions you need to manifest your dreams. The session might also include body or energy work, visualization, or other healing and balancing modalities.
How Will We Meet?
If you live in the area, we can meet one-on-one. You’ll need to call or email to set up an appointment. If you live outside the area, we can work by telephone. You will be responsible for the cost of the call, and we will set up a time for you to contact Suzanne.
The first consultation is free. Thereafter, the cost is $55 per hour, or $150 for three hours, or $450 for ten hours, paid in advance. If you decide to do paid sessions, you may also need to take the RHETI (Riso-Hudson Enneagram Type Indicator), which is $10 and takes about 40 minutes. You can access it at The Enneagram Institute.
